JOSUE TURRUBIATES is a Media Associate at Potomac Waves Media, helping to create media plans reaching out to the Latinx communities. He has worked on campaigns across the Central and Northern Virginia regions on local, state, and federal levels. His first campaign was as a field organizer on the Virginia Coordinated campaign in 2018 helping to re-elect Senator Tim Kaine, Congressman Don McEachin, and helping to elect Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger. Since then he worked for former Delegate Dawn Adams, Fairfax County Supervisor James Walkinshaw, the 2020 Biden/Harris Campaign, and on Former Delegate Elizabeth Guzman’s Lt. Governor campaign. He has also worked in the Virginia General Assembly for former Senate Minority Leader Richard Saslaw during the 2019 General Assembly session and Delegate Rozia A. Henson Jr. most recently in the 2024 session. After the COVID-19 pandemic, Josue spent some time working for Health Brigade, a Richmond based non-profit free clinic, helping Spanish speaking and LGBTQIA+ patients access no-cost mental health and primary care services. 

Josue is a first-generation Mexican-American and is originally from Brownsville, Texas, but grew up in Newport News, Virginia. He graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a minor in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies. He is an active member of the Virginia Young Democrats (VAYD), serving as the VAYD LGBTQIA+ Caucus Chair and recently as the Metro Richmond Area Young Democrats Vice President. In his free time he is a member of Richmond’s Stonewall Sports League and an avid Marvel comic book collector.
